Information Update: 5/23/2014
I recently learned of this site through Allen Furrie, a grade school and junior high school friend and I'm so excited that he found me on Facebook. I went to Nettleton Grade School first, and then to Franklin when it opened back up, Washington Jr. High and then spent one semester at Central High. My Dad owned the Pure Oil Gas Station down by the high school and across the Avenue from the Public Library. When he sold the station, my family then moved to Phoenix, AZ in February of 1958, where my favorite aunt lived and convinced my parents that they could make a wonderful new start down here. After graduating from Central High School in Phoenix, I attended Chapman College in Orange, California.
I continued to play the clarinet in high school and college, except the small college had no band or orchestra so I played with the Orange County Symphony Orchestra. After college, I gave up on the clarinet and now play piano instead. I have lived in Phoenix except for 12 years on Mustang Island off the coast of Corpus Christi, TX while in a second marriage. I was a paralegal in Corpus Christi and had to take a ferry boat across the ship channel to go to work. It was a 47 mile one-way trip to the office but all highway and easy going as long as the weather was decent. Came back to Phoenix in December of 2003 to care for my ailing mother so she could remain in her home.
My first marriage lasted 20 years and was very good for the first 17 of them. I have two wonderful daughters and 3 grandsons. Unfortunately, daughter Kirsten lives in Texas and daughter Heather lives in San Francisco area so I don't get to see grandsons very often. They are 9, 11 and 12.
My career was as a legal secretary first and then a certified paralegal. Also wrote and taught a two semester course at local community college for students aspiring to become legal secretaries. I retired from the law firm in 2008. When I came back to Phoenix in December of 2003, I continued to work for the Texas firm telecommuting via Citrix as we had a paperless office and it was just like being there. Lost Mom in 2007 but had 4 wonderful years here with her.
What an awesome class you are to have developed this wonderful website. Too bad I didn't know about it in 2011 or I would have loved to attend the reunion. I have been back to Duluth 3 times since we moved to Phoenix. Once when I was young and single and then twice later when I took Mom back for Proctor High School reunions. Went to old neighborhood and walked around a bit. We lived at 731 North Third Avenue East. I have a picture of our old house on my fridge. The porches are gone now but house is still standing strong.
ADDED 5/23/2014:
Lynnea Ann Sanders (aka Crawford), 70, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, following a long battle with cancer on May 9, 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Heather Crawford and Kirsten Hund; brothers, Terry, Peter and Chris Willman; and three grandchildren.
