I look back at my life and say...where the hell did the past 50 years go? Then I start to think about all that has happened in my life and all that I've done. I have always loved life. I've been very fortunate to have had family and friends to get me through whatever came my way.

In 1962, I was married to Rolly Maki (Central class of 1959). We were divorced about 18 years later. Out of that marriage came two wonderful daughters. Our first daughter, Beth Olson, was born in 1965 and lives in Lino Lakes, MN. She has no children but is the mother of three cats. Our second daughter, Susan Cooper, was born in 1967. She is married to Dan Cooper and they have two wonderful sons. Matthew attends college at Hamline University in St. Paul and is one of the goalies on their hockey team. I think he wants to teach and coach when he graduates. My other grandson Erik is going to graduate from Duluth East in June. For now he has plans to attend UMD in the fall.

After my divorce, I lived in Ohio and Florida for quite a few years. About six years ago, I returned to Duluth to live. I love Duluth and am so happy to be back in my hometown again.

A couple of years ago, I met a very special man named Gary Platteter. He is from Duluth and has three wonderful daughters, nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. When we all get together at the house that Gary and I share, it is quite a gathering! We are both retired which gives us lots of time to do fun things. We both like to volunteer so some of our time is doing just that. We are hoping to do a lot of traveling together in the years to come. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
