Diane Louise Ranta (Scanlon) died in San Diego. She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1961, was periodically employed and received her Associate of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1969.

She married Thomas G. Scanlon while living in San Diego, California and raised her family in both the San Diego and Ramona areas of California. Diane had 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. All (except for one son in Billings, Montana) are living in California. She also has seven grandchildren.

There were a variety of activities that Diane enjoyed during her lifetime including music, dancing, swimming, reading, writing poetry and being adventurous.

She lived for 43 years and 8 months, passing in 1987 after a lengthy illness.
