During high school at good ole Central, I worked at 4th Street Bridgeman's. During October of our senior year my family moved to Virginia, Minnesota. I was devastated to leave good friends and school. I did love Central high school. I transferred to Virginia Bridgeman's and worked there while finishing up senior year. Met Dave at work, he was going to the junior college at the time. We got married in Dec. of 1961.

He transferred from St. Cloud to UMD the winter quarter, so we moved there. I transferred back to Bridgeman's on Superior Street, downtown. Moved back and forth between Gheen and Duluth for work in the summer and finishing up school in the winter. He got a teaching job at Arnold School and we lived in the area for 3 years. Then transferred to Cook School.

We always went back to Gheen in the summer, as we owned his grandmother's land. We lived in the old house which we remodeled as we lived in it. We had cows, chickens, pigs, and a large garden and, of course, flowers. I always knew early on in life that I wanted to live this kind of life as my sisters and I used to spend about a month of the summers up at Roseau, with 2 grandparents, and 2 aunts (that lived on farms.) I loved it.

Dave worked in the woods to make extra money on weekends and in the summer. Of course, had to make hay for the beef cows.

We were blessed to have 5 kids, 3 boys and 2 girls, who have given us 6 grandchildren. They all live pretty close to us (within 60 miles) so we "know our grandchildren." The oldest being 20 and youngest being 14. They are all doing well, and are happy people. I feel very fortunate to have been a stay at home mom. After they all left home I did personal care (CNA) and learned so very much from the elderly. Loved the "Job" and became almost family with most of them. After I retired, I volunteered at the nursing home in the beauty shop and kept in touch with a lot of my former clients that had moved on to the nursing home.

Dave retired in 1997 (so did I). Spent one winter just vegging out, then decided to start a greenhouse business right at home. We loved it. One greenhouse turned into 3 within 3 years. It was a lot of fun, and met some great people. We decided to quit after 10 years to do other things.

We've traveled to nearly all the US states except Hawaii. We drove the Alcan Highway twice and were in Tyrol Austria twice. Love to travel, but there's no place like home.

I have had a wonderful life with my best friend.we will be married 50 years December 16. Looking forward to the reunion this summer, and it has been great to renew friendships at the class meetings. What a bunch of great people. Thank you all very much.
