IN THE BEGINNING:
My 50-year story really starts 53 years ago. I met Lou 3 years before our senior year of high school. We got married the Sept. we began our senior year. On March 24 (during the state basketballs tourney) if gave birth to twin boys, Lee and Larry. Yes, you can do the math. With the help of my family I was able to continue with school and graduate with my class. This is something that meant a lot to me. Two years later we had another boy, Dean. In 1965 Lou was transferred to the Twin Cities. In 1968 we had twin daughters, Kari and Kris. This September we celebrated 50 years of marriage.

GROWING UP:
Those were busy but rewarding years. I was a stay-at-home mom until I went to work for No. Branch school as a part-time secretary in 1978. I loved having summers off and was able to enjoy my family. We spent a lot of afternoons at the beach. The kids did the usual sports, basketball, soccer but we were all skiers. Our winter breaks found us in Aspen, CO skiing the white slopes. In 1985 our daughter, Kris, asked us to take an exchange student from Costa Rica for 3 months. We did and what a wonderful experience that was. He has been back to see us at least 8 times and Lou, Kris and I have had many wonderful trips to Costa Rica. We are truly his American parents and he is our Costa Rican son, soon to have a son of his own. He surprised us at out 50-years anniversary. Our 5 children blessed us. They had a very uneventful growing period, no great problems. They all went on to college and have college degrees. They've also blessed us with nine wonderful grandchildren. The oldest 3 just graduated from college.

RETIREMENT YEARS:
We were fortunate that Lou was able to retire from a retail career at the age of 51. We went to Alaska for 6 weeks and saw it all. We also traded the white snows of Aspen for the white beaches of Mexico. That was our winter destination for 18 years. We've also wintered in Arizona, Texas and the past 2 years in Florida (our favorite statewide). Our children and grandchildren all live close and we are able to see them often and we've also taken them on some of our trips. My health took a bump in the road last summer. I was diagnosed with CML (Leukemia) but hope to be in remission for our class reunion.

We feel our hard work for our jobs and raising children have paid off and we are so proud of our 5 and our 9 grandchildren. Can't wait to see everyone again.

Judy (Gunderson) Sibik, age 74, of Lindstrom, MN passed away in her sleep on July 25, 2017. She was born on May 12, 1943 in Duluth, MN.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Cleta Gunderson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Louis Sibik and her five children; sons, Lee (Laura), Larry (Jill), Dean (Penny), and daughters Kari (Dana) Schramm and Kris; sister Lynne (Mike) Eikam; grandchildren Dustin (Ashley), Katy, Amy (Mike) Kies, Scott, Kylee, Lexi, Kelsey, Gage and Colin and great-grandchildren Jackson and Owen, in-laws Jack, Cheri and Jim Sibik, nieces and nephews and many special friends, including her special Costa Rican family, the Madrigals.

Judy’s warmth and caring was reflected in the loving homes she created filled with countless memories, laughter and joy. She was especially known for the over 150 beautiful quilts she made for her family, friends, and community, each crafted with painstaking attention to detail.
Judy was a long-time employee of North Branch public schools where she enjoyed many administrative positions, helping countless children navigate their way through the school year.

A private family interment will take place at a later date.
