Robert L. Norberg, 53, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Duluth, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997, in St. Mary's Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late John Norberg and Virginia Bloomquist on Dec. 29, 1943, in Duluth. Robert attended Duluth Central High School. He was an Air Force Vietnam veteran. Robert worked for the DOT in Duluth for 12 years before becoming a business agent for the State Employees Union, AFSCME Council 6, where he was employed until his death. He was a member of the Grand Rapids VFW and the Walker American Legion. Robert was active in the area DFL, and served on the ARC Board in Duluth. He was a member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church in Duluth.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; step-father, George; brothers John and Ron; a niece, Joni. He is survived by his wife, Connie Corrigan Norberg; a daughter, Maureen; and sons, Daniel and Christopher, all at home in Grand Rapids; a daughter, Julee (Paul) Norberg-Hitz, and a grandson, Michael John, of Mount Carroll, Ill; a son, Stephen Norberg of St. Paul, Minn.; Susan Stephenson Norberg of Duluth; sisters, Jeanne Groskreutz of Duluth; Gail (John) Rathmannor of Crystal, Minn.; Susan (Marvin) Forbragd of Wyoming, Minn.; Nancy Kuklinski of Saukville, Wis.; and Mary Norberg and Betty White, both of Milwaukee; brothers Marty Bloomquist of Miami; Jerry, Mike and George Norberg, all of Grafton, Wis.; and Clifford and Jimmy Norbert of Milwaukee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
