Thomas Neal Lax, 58, of Jefferson Street died Friday, April 20, 2001, in his home. He was born July 8, 1942, in Duluth to Axel Everet and Ina Amelia (Nurkka) Lax. He was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and the Smith Hughes Printing Trade course. He was a printer for the Duluth News Tribune from 1961 until his retirement in November, 2000. Tom was a member of the CWA, and he enjoyed brook trout fishing up the North Shore.

He was preceded in death by his father, Axel, in 1983; his mother, Ina, on Dec. 11, 1999; a brother, Jack, in 1972; and his former wife, Patricia Jean Anderson, on Aug. 29, 1999. He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Bonnie) of Lincoln, Neb., and Gary of Duluth; a brother, Richard Lax of Duluth; sisters Alyce (Henry) Zabukover and Mary (Larry) Anderson, both of Duluth; and grandchildren Niomi, Jazmyne and Tyler.
