Michael "Mickey" James Farrell, 76 of Duluth, passed away peacefully, at home, with family by his side, Tuesday, December 24, 2019. He was born January 24, 1943 in Duluth to John and Helen Farrell.

Mickey grew up on Park Point and later lived in the Central Hillside. He graduated from Duluth Central High School (Class of 1961) and The University of Minnesota Duluth. He spent his career as a probation officer for St. Louis County, retiring in 2001.

Mickey enjoyed playing hockey and softball, spending time at the cabin on Island Lake, coaching youth sports, and refereeing hockey and football.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; children Steven (Kelly), Ross, Beth (Jarrod) Bifulk; grandchildren, Connor, Cade, Gavin, Jordan and Lincoln; brothers, Jack (Louann) and Don (Susan); many nieces, nephews, family and friends, especially Jim Trachsel.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's Intensive Care, St. Luke's Internal Medicine (Dr. Mast), UDAC (Dana Swor) and Chris Jensen Rehab Center for all of the care over the last 16 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Duluth Central Little League, P.O. Box 3334, Duluth, MN 55803 (or another youth sports organization of your preference).

Visitation will be 5-7PM, Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805, visitation will continue, Tuesday, December 31, 2019, from 9AM until the 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E 3rd St, Duluth, MN 55805
