Sally and I met via a cousin of hers in the spring of 1960. Her cousin, Allan Olson, a 1960 Duluth Central graduate, and I drove from Duluth to St. Paul for the blind date. Were were married on September 22, 1962 and still are married. We have two sons, Timothy now 44 years of age and lives near Austin, TX about 40 miles from here. Thomas now 41 lives near Honolulu, Hi. We have two grandchildren. We live near Liberty Hill, TX on 2 1/2 acres out in the country, the Texas Hill Country. We got to Texas via 3M Company that I was working for at the time. They offered me a transfer....thus we have been here since 1989.

I have been doing Mechanical Engineering work designing heating, air conditioning and piping systems for commercial buildings. I have worked for Architectural/Engineering companies and two corporations, Control Data Corporation in Minnesota and 3M in Minnesota and Texas. Since 2001 I have been and still am self employed doing business as Corporate Service Company. Most of my engineering work has been and still is at Dell Computer Corporation here in Texas. The project work has been wide spread within the United States from New York City to Los Angeles, the iron range of Minnesota to Houston, TX. Outside side the U.S. for projects located in Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, U.K., Ivory Coast, Abu Dhabi and others.

Pleasure travel has taken us to most of the lower 48 states, Alaska, Hawaii, many countries in Europe, Sidney and Hong Kong. Sally likes Hawaii best, all of them are my favorites...especially the Swiss Alps.

Obituary:
Richard Lee Jyring, 74, passed away on February 22, 2017 at his home in Liberty Hill, TX. He was born in Duluth, MN on October 20, 1942 to Elmer and Sally Jyring.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sally, of Liberty Hill, TX; sons, Timothy Jyring of Pflugerville, TX, and Thomas Jyring of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Kyra Jyring of Peoria, IL, and Austin Steel of Lampasas, TX; great-grandson, Vincent Eugene; sister, Diane Cappucino (Joe) of Hinkley, MN, and Bonnie Dolezelik (John) of Duluth, MN; brother, Jack Jyring (Sonja) of Duluth, MN; and many friends/colleagues.

Richard and Sally were married on September 22, 1962 in St. Paul, MN. He was a mechanical engineer for over 50 years in St. Paul, MN; Eau Claire, WI; and Austin, TX. He then opened his own business, Corporate Support, in 2000 working with Dell and HOK in Houston and others.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 115 E. North Street, Bertram, TX 78605. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Bertram.
