An old pop tune divides the day into eight hours for sleep, work and play. We will dispense with the sleep. On the work, first came a degree from UMD with majors in German and Spanish. Five years in the classroom followed. Summers were spent working in Girl Scout camps. Leaving the world of education behind, a combination of college degree, and I like to think Girl Scout background, and the new Equal Opportunity laws led to a position in an entirely new field, that of the gas pipeline. I worked for Northern Natural Gas and subsidiaries for 30 years, in 6 locations, including 3 different stints in Omaha, Nebraska. Retirement (the second time) was June of 2007 as a senior gas controller. It was an interesting career, not always fun, but watching the industry move to the computer age stands out. And because I seemed to be too occupied with making a living, I remained single.

Now to play, I continued to work with Girl Scouts, and each time I moved I found a ready-made social group as a volunteer. Education did not stop either. I acquired two additional bachelor's degrees, in business and history, in the no longer used mode of correspondence and still do a lot of reading in history. In the mid-nineties, I began to indulge in another love, travel. Working for NNG gave me the time and the resources to travel. I have visited 47 of the 50 states of our country and six of the seven continents. I especially enjoy visiting the little towns in Germany where my maternal grandparents came from, and meeting some of the cousins. After the Enron bankruptcy, and tow retirements from it, I retired to Duluth
