Dear Class of '61, I'll spare you the minutia....In a nutshell: I dropped out of UMD and worked in the Twin Cities for a few years, then--swallowing my pride and admitting I really didn't know it all--came back to Duluth and got my sheepskin saying I was now qualified to teach English, speech, & theater in junior high and high school, which I proceeded to do back at Washington Junior and Central High School for the next 30-plus years. I absolutely loved the job and the kids. (I always said when I stopped laughing I'd know it was time to hang it up....but I retired in 2002--still laughing.)

Married classmate Syd Cohen in the 70's; we subsequently divorced but remain good friends, and I must say his wife Lois is more of a prize than I ever was. I love rambling in the woods, the cabin, my dogs, my family, and my friends; I write a bit, and am involved in University for Seniors at UMD-- been teaching a class in memoir writing for several years. I'm as busy as I want to be, healthy, happy, and life is still a major kick. The past 50 years have been filled with all the things that make up a life--Love and death, heartache and joy, belly laughs, giggles, and tears. Like most of my classmates I look back with fondness on those awkward teen years we spent together at Central. She did well by us and -from the sound of it- the class of 1961 did well by her. Best wishes to all of you!
