After high school I went Duluth Business University (with good friend Tom Brozic). There I completed their accounting program. I had a great time.
After DBU I lived with Dan Howard and his family in Minneapolis and worked at a large hardware store. I came home every weekend to see my girlfriend (Bev Cooley East High class of 61). I didn't like this arrangement, so I moved home and started UMD. After one quarter Bev and I were married. We moved to St. Paul and I worked at Univac in the accounting department. While in St. Paul we started our family with a daughter. I had a great boss at Univac who encouraged me to get a degree. So with a wife and daughter we moved back to Duluth so I could pursue a college degree.
I started UMD in the fall of 1964 and graduated in June of 1967 with a degree in Business Education. In the middle of this, we had our second child (a son) in May of 1966. So when I graduated I had a wife and 2 children. Upon graduation I went to work for the DM&IR Ry. We had our 3rd child, another son in May 1968. While at the DM&IR I held various jobs in the accounting department. (cost analyst, auditor, payroll supervisor, and revenue accounting) I retired in June 1993 and worked various jobs until 1998.
Upon retirement we built a new house on Lake Elora (Three Lakes, Canyon, MN). In 2003 we bought a condo in Bonita Springs, Florida. Since then we spread our time between Minnesota and Florida. We have been fortunate to do some traveling throughout our life. Presently we have 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons ranging in age from 12 to 17. We enjoy spending time with them. They are all fun and bring great joy.
