After college graduation I taught elementary age children from 1965 to 1972. I worked in libraries for nearly 30 years in rural MN. One highlight was almost seeing the 1961 Bemidji basketball coach turn purple when I told him I graduated from Central in 1961. Luckily, he did not have a heart attack. I retired from library work April 2010. I loved watching all the changes that came to libraries.

I raised my children, roamed the woods with my dogs, changed my 40 acres into a haven for wildlife, and did cat and dog rescue work. Moving to Oregon has been a new challenge for my animals and me. I had always trained my dogs off leash and using hand signals. We are now both learning on leash behavior and how to survive Oregon winter weather. We now walk malls instead of woods. Chandler has learned to go up escalators and I get to eat at outside tables with my dog at my feet. Instead of Lake Superior, we have the ocean; instead of hills, we have oceans. We live at the base of an extinct volcano. All my life I have loved learning and now I have a whole new environment to explore.
