After high school I went back to school for 2 years of postgraduate training to become a machinist. After that, I did 4 years in the USN. While in the navy I was stationed in Argentina, Newfoundland, Iceland, Gitmo Bay Cuba and Norfolk VA. While in Iceland we flew the airborne early line. This was before ground radar cloud cover and protect us from the Russians. Cuba was for shakedown to send the USS intrepid to Naum. Once I was out of the service, I had a few jobs, settling down at Diamond Tool. When Diamond Tool started to shut down I went to Continental Can in Mankato for 20 years. I worked as a machinist and also was involved heavily in the unions, many years as president of the locals. Now, my new granddaughter [6wks] keeps me traveling between Hill City and Mankato.
