I was never meant to be a scholar; school in general was one of my worst subjects because I never wanted to be there. Graduation was one of my happiest days. After high school I stayed around town and had some really great times. I only needed enough money for a car and other things, which are not necessary anymore. In 1962 I joined the Navy, I was fortunate enough to see many parts of the world, such as the East Coast, the Mediterranean Sea and bordering countries. At times I wish I had made a career of the Navy, lots of fun and a lot of good people. After the Navy I got into the Apprenticeship program to be a plumber, 5-year program where I finally had to learn how to study. I earned all 4 licenses for piping in the state of Minnesota and after working 38 years in the trade I retired in 2005.
I got married in 1968 to my dear wife Mari, we live in Duluth where we raised our 3 children, Annette, Steve and Nicki. We just celebrated 43 years together, and if God allows it we will have another 43 (very unlikely). We have 5 grandsons who keep us very busy, family is the most important things in our lives. In our spare time we like to travel, both short trips around the area and longer trips that take us to different parts of the country. I have also taken up the guitar since retirement; this was something I wanted to do since childhood.
Life has been good to me, and I have no regrets. However, I still don't know the difference between a noun and verb!
