I had joined the Navy Reserves when I was a Junior in High School and spent my summer at boot camp.  After graduation, the Navy sent me to Electronics School for 6 months.  I then went to sea for 2 years.  Carol (Shipka) and I married in 1966 and we have 3 girls and a boy.

I was on Destroyers, their known as the gophers of the fleet.  I was educational and exciting.  I remained in the Navy Reserves and achieved the enlisted rank of Chief Petty Officer(E-7).  I graduated from UMD in 1970 with a degree in accounting and business.  I became an officer in the military and achieved the rank of CWO-4. 

After college, I went to work for a CPA firm and then went to work as an internal auditor for a large Cooperative.  I built a CPA firm around the Cooperative clients and later merged them in to a larger CPA firm called Cooperative Auditing Service.  I became their General Manager and started to look for new products to bring to the Cooperatives world.  First we came up with a product called Environmental Audit.  I wanted to have our Auditors be the first line of environmental defense.  The environmental audits became a larger business then the financial audits, so we set it up as a separate cooperative.

In the environmental audits we became aware of malfeasance by government employees so I reported it.  The Government came after us and charged us criminally in 4 different counties.  The court exonerated us in one county and we won the other 3 at probable cause.  The second product we came up with was ESOP's.  (Employee Stock Options Plans).  Lewis Kelso, the inventor of ESOP's believed the concentration of wealth in the world was the biggest problem for the economy and ESOP's are one of the solutions.  Kelso invited me to California and I went on the cooperative speaking circuit touting the benefits of ESOP's.

We started sending materials out in Russian and Spanish and I received an invitation to speak at the 2nd Conference in Privatizing of Russia in the Kremlin.  It also included speaking in their Military Pentagon.  I have also worked in Africa, Turkmenistan, South and Central America.
