After graduation I enrolled in the University of Minnesota in Duluth and earned an associate of arts degree in 1963. I moved to Minneapolis and began working at the University of Minnesota on the main campus in the College of Liberal Arts Budget Office for the Dean of Liberal Arts.

In 1968 I moved back to Duluth and began working for the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company in the accounting department. I not only was hired by the railroad, but I met my husband Bob Johnson on the first day of work. I guess I got "a two for one deal", a job and a great husband. I retired in 1999 after 31 years of service. Bob and I celebrated our 40th anniversary September 2010.

We have one daughter, Laurie, who has her BA degree from UMD and Masters from UWS in Communications. Laurie is a marketing planner for Essentia Health. She and Wayne Swor are planning to be married in 2012. Wayne happens to be Kathy Swor Nervick's cousin. What a small world.

I have been active in the National Association of Railway Business Women on the local, district and national level. Presently, I am Treasurer and Membership Chairman of the Twin Ports Chapter. I have traveled to several cities to attend the national conventions and met many long lasting friends.

In my spare time I enjoyed spending time at our family cabin at Pequaywan Lake of which we have many fond memories. I am active in the Duluth Garden Flower Society and the Lake Superior Master Gardeners. We enjoy hockey, football and music of all kinds. We are members of Christ Lutheran Church. I have a large family in Norway and have visited them twice, once with my dad and again with Laurie, when we attended a cousin's Norwegian wedding. Many of our family from Norway have visited us and we are always happy to get together with them.

In our retirement years, Bob and I have enjoyed southern California as a vacation spot, this year we will be in LaQuinta, CA. I am looking forward to our 50th reunion in July to reconnect with friends from our class.
