My life the past 50 years in 2,000 characters...wow! That's a challenge...here goes: Graduation...marriage...baby...baby...baby...their graduation...divorce...left Minnesota in '85...now the real story begins!
I took a job with Chessie System Railroad, which put me in Huntington, WV. What a shock! Didn't know a soul but met some wonderful people the two years I was in Huntington. Chessie merged with a southern railroad...became CSX. I was transferred to Baltimore, where I ended up on a plane 3-4 days/week, generating a lot of air miles; and ultimately to Atlanta, where I have lived for 20+ years.
I retired twice (this time for good...I think!). Left CSX in the early '90s; took a year off til my COBRA ran out; accepted a position with GA State University running Actuarial Science seminar program (for all those brainy people who try to figure out when we're going to die!).
At the age of 58, I decided to pursue what was my minor in college, Art, and went back to school with a bunch of 19 and 20 year old kids...finally got my BFA at the age of 60! What a hoot and inspiration being with those young, creative kids!
Since '88, I have been blessed with 8 great grandchildren. In 2005, I married again, this time to a "southern boy" from South Carolina, who was willing to give up his roots. We live in a MetroAtlanta golf community, where we have some great friends...and I golf a lot more than the 3 months a year I did in MN! My son and his family live not far from me but my daughters are at a distance, so I have easily generated some more Skymiles!
I have been fortunate to have seen some great places on this globe...my favorite place on earth: Hilton Head Island. I've stayed healthy (knock on wood!), and now paint, play golf...and Bunko with some great "girl" friends.
Would I change anything? No, not really...do I miss the Minnesota cold winters? NO! Do I miss some of the friends I left behind...of, course! But then, there are always frequent flier miles to use!
