Like most of us, I was born very young, so it took me few years after flunking nap time in Munger Elementary kindergarten, to get to good ol' DCHS. Since then.

At St. Olaf College, I met my fantastic wife, Pat, who is from Packer-stan (AKA Wisconsin). We were married in Milwaukee, an event witnessed by Tom Hustvet and Hunter Anderson, who unsuccessfully warned Pat about her pending fate.

In college, I stayed with history, tennis, guitar and debate. Attended grad school at the U, was drafted and managed to flunk the physical exam The Army said, "We can't use you, son." Survived that "disappointment" and then taught history at White Bear Lake.

For 20-some years, I occupied corporate classrooms and traveled the globe as a training specialist for Control Data Corp. It was truly exciting to participate in the launching of the world's first super computers. Could fill several books with boring stories of computers, world travel, cultures, etc. Have been to more countries than Travelocity. Favorites: Australia, Scotland. Most interesting: South Africa, Norway (found my ancestors).

Retired after several additional stints in the computer biz. I'm a super computer bigot. I hate PCs and refuse to take seriously any computer I can see over. Now work part-time grading No Child Left Behind the School Bus test papers from schools around the US. Only a fewe stoodent paperz are up tew the riting standerdz of Lauterbach, Harvey or Marks. Mr. Beck would be appalled.

Pat and I live in Eden Prairie, MN, and have been mowing the same lawn for four decades. We have two daughters who live close by, and two granddaughters, 4 and 2, who also happen to be close by, as they live with their parents. Gramma Patty and Poppa Doug are spoiling experts.

Hobbies: play a Telecaster guitar: WARNING! will loudly do so without being asked or encouraged. Baseball and college puck addict. GO TWINS...and take the Golden Gerbils with you. Fish for trout - Baptism and Manitou Rivers, and monster pike in NW Ontario. Have had some fantastic fishing luck. Pat and I are active in DFL politics in traditionally Republican territory - it's like looking for Democratic votes along Mansion Row on east Superior Street.
