After graduation I moved to Minneapolis working in a camera shop in Dinkytown by the U of M. Later I started on the bottom rung as a Clerk-Typist at the Honeywell Ordnance Division. I worked 2 1/2 years at the old Army Ammunition Plant in New Brighton, MN. Little did I know that this would be the start of an odyssey for me.

A month after marrying, my new husband decided we should move to northern Minnesota so I left the job I so enjoyed at Honeywell and went north with him to work in the local bank. After one daughter and 15 years, the marriage ended so I went back to Minneapolis to start over again at Honeywell, this time at the Military Aviation Division in St. Louis Park, Mn. Then after a short-year, left that job and almost married again. Luckily, for both of us, I decided to stay a single mother instead and was so fortunate when Honeywell hired me back one more time!

For my third time back I was so fortunate to go to work for the Honeywell Commercial Aviation Division. I had always loved airplanes and my strong suit was customer service so this was the perfect place for me with lots of commercial airline and business jet customers. Commercial customers needed my love of logistics and service to Honeywell customers - getting them off Aircraft on the Ground (AOG) status, FAST. I had found my home.

At 38 years old, I started classes at a working-adults-type college.
It took me 10 years of night and weekend classes to get a Bachelor's Degree which led to jobs in Finance and Contract Management. I often traveled to Brazil to work with the Embraer Aircraft Company near Sao Paulo, Brazil. I dearly loved the country and the people there, making all the long night and weekend classes worth the 10-year effort.

In 1987 Honeywell purchased Sperry Avionics and moved part of our Division to Phoenix, Arizona. It was a scary move as my daughter stayed behind in the north as a sophomore in college while I followed Honeywell and the airplanes to the desert.

Three years later my daughter finished her degree, moved to Arizona, met her husband and became a confirmed "zonie" like me. I retired after 29 total years with Honeywell and enjoy life in Az with Jennifer and her family. I developed a rare medical condition but am very fortunate to have that mostly under control now allowing me to enjoy my granddaughter, Native American culture and reading history books.

My one regret: that I never made the effort to locate DCHS-61 classmates or find info on class reunions My sincere thanks to Nancy Ness, Cathy Duagaard-Egger, Ken and Rose Sorensen for quickly "friending" me on FB, thereby opening a new chapter in my life 50 years after graduation with "61" friends - old and new. I hope to see everyone at the reunion in July.
