Info. update: 04/27/2017
Two weeks after graduation, I started working at Minnesota Power and was there for over nine years. In 1970 I married my husband Ron, who was a printer at the News-Tribune. I then took nine years off of working outside the home while we had our three children - two girls - Bronwyn and Jessica, and one son - Ethan.
When our youngest started kindergarten, I became the secretary at St. Jean's/Holy Family School. It was such a great job as I had my summers off when the kids were out of school. I worked there for nine years and then went back to Minnesota Power and retired after another 17 years there.
We are lucky that two of our kids live here in town and our youngest is in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. We have seven wonderful grandkids - three boys (Jonah, Dalton and Ethan) and four girls (Emily, Lauren, Hannah and Lilly) that we enjoy so very much. Our son has taught in the Social Studies department at Central for all 16 years of his career so far. With Central closing, next year he will be teaching at Denfeld.
We have a camper at The French Club on Lake Elora and spend a lot of time there in the summer and fall. We love Duluth and truly would not want to live any place else. I love to knit, read, cook and travel - especially to Door County! Most of all I enjoy spending time with our family.
Obit:PRISCILLA (CHAPMAN) FISHER
Priscilla (Chapman) Fisher, 73, of Duluth passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Solvay Hospice House after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 18, 1943 in Duluth to Reginald and Elaine (Roleff) Chapman, she graduated from Duluth Central High School before working at St. Jean's School and Minnesota Power. She married Ron Fisher Sept. 12, 1970 and raised three children. She was a lifetime member of the French Club and an active and devoted member of Holy Family (formerly St. Jean's) Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending as much time as possible at her camper by the lake. But perhaps most of all she loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Her deep and lasting devotion to her husband and children and her warm and generous nature ensured that she was loved by many friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Dan Chapman.
She is survived by her husband Ron; her children Bronwyn Lipinski of Duluth, Ethan (Heather) Fisher of Duluth, and Jessica (Kevin) Saba of Belle Plaine; her grandchildren Jonah and Dalton Lipinski, Emily and Lauren Saba, and Ethan, Hannah, and Lillian Fisher; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A special thanks to the many amazing doctors, nurses, and caretakers from St. Mary's and Solvay Hospice House, who went above and beyond their duty to make an impossible experience one that was filled with laughter, care, and love.
VISITATION: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30, and continuing at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, May 1, 2017 all in Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W. 3rd St., Duluth. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Holy Family Roof Fund are preferred.
