After my sons, Mike and Steve, no longer required constant care, my first administrative job was at a food brokerage company in Edina. That company merged three times with other companies and I learned to be adaptable. The next 25 years went by quickly when I was downtown Minneapolis at Pillsbury where I had administrative stints in various departments: Finance, Human Resources, Research & Development, Operations, Pension and Investments, International, Legal. The British firm Grand Metropolitan bought Pillsbury, and I worked for the CFO and learned a lot about mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, keeping my adaptation skills in top form. General Mills bought Pillsbury and I began the commute across town to Golden Valley working in International Law and adapting once again to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

I've traveled a bit: East coast, West coast, many points in between plus Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and a lovely trip to the UK where I stayed with friends in Holland Park and toured London, Uxbridge, Oxford, Stratford on Avon. Traveling currently consists of three or four trips a year to visit Steve and his family in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mike and his family live in Victoria, Minnesota, so are within easy distance to see often.

The things that keep me busy since my retirement from paid employment include genealogy with trips to the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul (I've completed two books on family history); piano, photography (I had a photo published in Birds & Blooms magazine), painting (watercolors and acrylics), yard work and gardening, lunch with friends, book clubs, musicals and plays at the Bloomington Civic Theatre, exhibits, arts and museums; choir and historian at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield; knitting, crocheting; and if there is any time left over, I might vacuum and dust my house.

Greetings and good wishes to all members of Duluth Central's Class of 1961.
