Allen “Al” Leroy Simonson, 69, of Duluth, went to be in the company of his deceased loved ones Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospice surrounded by family.

Allen was born in Duluth to Ole and Marjorie (Miller) Simonson. He graduated from Duluth Central High School. After graduation he attended Barber College. He took great pride in serving his clients at Skyline Barber Shop for 45 years, never taking a sick day until cancer forced him into retirement. Allen enjoyed traveling the country following sprint car racing. His favorite hobby was keeping his cars spotless. Allen was passionate about cars and took the most pride in his Corvette. Over the past 30 years, he spent most summer weekends camping with family and friends at the Enchanted Inn.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Allen treasured his time paying visits to Hugo, MN to see his granddaughters. In his final days, Allen was able to say goodbye to his loved ones and express that his greatest joy was raising his children.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemari; brother, David; and brother-in-law, Richard Anderson.

Allen is survived by his son, Dan (Patty) Simonson; daughter, Shelly (Mark) Eliason; sisters, Joyce Anderson and Jeanne (David) Carlson; granddaughters, Jenna and Jessica Simonson; special friend, Judy Bard; fury four-legged “grandson”, Bob; Nieces, Kristen (Drew) Kimery, Sue (David) Danneker, and Lynn Anderson; nephew, Bradley (Billie) Carson; and extended family.

Services will not be held per Allen’s request.
