Most Poised
Nancy Nolte and Dan Maynard
This picture and the 10 pictures below were first published as an addition to the Zenith on May 18, 1961. Not all of us received a copy of these and recently (at Frank & Sharon Cooper's Ice Cream Social) Karen Christiansen brought her copy to share with us. Names and titles are exactly as they were published on the original document.
Thanks, Karen

Editors Note: I realize we were all excited about our Basket Ball Team, but left in the background was an excellent Hockey Team that gets little notice. These two articles are to level the playing field somewhat.

Students Write to Santa
I'll bet Dick Walcome would be investigated by sexual harrassment officials and Richard Walsh would have the FBI knocking at his door if they wrote these today.

I absolutely do not remember doing this, do any of you remember speaking at this event? I wonder if it was supposed to be Ken Sjoquist? People got us mixed up a lot back then. Seen one Ken you have seen them all. (;>)

The A Band Prepares For Long-Awaited Trip
Washington’s "A" band is off soon to Minneapolis. Three Greyhound buses will take the group Thursday morning, May 8 (1958), to Edina-Morningside High School to present a concert. Band Leader Mr. Patrick Sullivan announced that several new numbers have been prepared for the occasion, including Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks featuring Karen Lundmark on the French Horn, and Holiday for Trombone with Dan Maynard, Duane Walsh and Dale Whitcomb. Other soloists are Claudia Nygaard trumpet, Nancy Treviranus flute, Judy Gunderson bass clarinet and Sharon Lindberg alto saxophone.
After their performance the entire band will visit the huge Southdale shopping center before returning home. This is the longest band trip taken and said Mr. Sullivan, “I consider this concert most important as Edina-Morningside is one of the finest schools in the state, and has what probably is the best high school band in the state”. All expenses for the trip were raised by band members selling candy and by a paper drive.
