After high school I enlisted in the Navy. This turned out to be a 20 year adventure. I had many assignments; naval air stations in Florida, Maryland and Hawaii; three aircraft carriers, naval air facilities in Naples, Italy; Sigonella, Sicily; Detroit, Michigan and NAS Atsugi, Japan. My career field was in Aircraft Structural Mechanics. I retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

My Family: My wife of 48+ years is Claudia Seeley Lindbeck. We were married in Duluth in 1962. She did a lot of moving during my Navy career. The places we rented in our early years were definitely not "the Ritz," but all of those experiences built character! One thing about the Navy-the friends you make last a lifetime and we still keep in touch with many of them. After my retirement from the Navy in 1980, Claudia and I moved back to Duluth where we lived until moving to St. Cloud, MN in 1988. We lived in St. Cloud until 2009 when we sold our home and bought a 5th wheel travel trailer and then a home in Spring Hill, Florida this past fall. We spend our winters in sunny Florida and the summers in Duluth.

We have one son, Clark who lives in the Twin Cities, two daughters, Camille in Duluth and Colleen in Spring Hill, Florida. There are seven grandchildren, five girls and two boys and two step-grandsons. The grandkids keep us busy and are a source of great happiness for us.

Career: The career I chose after the Navy was HVAC service. I retired from Pipefitters Local 539 in 2006. Through the years I have been in many cities and towns throughout Minnesota doing service and repair work. I enjoyed my job, with the exception of being on-call through the cold winter months. Many of the call-outs were in the middle of the night and most were NOT on warm moonlit nights!

After retirement from the Pipefitters, I took some summer work as a job superintendent on school energy/ventilation projects. The first project was in the New London school district, number two was in East Grand Forks and the final project was in the Braham, MN schools. It was a job that I really enjoyed.

As I write this I am retired and sitting out in the sun on a picnic table overlooking the beautiful Whiteface Reservoir.
